About Us

Samriddha Pahad is a Nepali social non-profit organization registered in Nepal in 2015, with the aim of raising the standard of living for those who live in the mountains and hills through sustainable economic activities.
In 2009, The Blueberry Hill Charitable Trust UK's Chairman, Sir Graham Wrigley, and Board of Trustees launched Samriddha Pahad in Nepal. Samriddha Pahad is now registered as a Section 166 Nepali company. The goal of Samriddha Pahad is to raise the standard of living for those who reside in the hills and mountains.
Samriddha Pahad achieved its three main objectives in 2016:
- To give 25,000 people access to finance in remote areas of Nepal where they previously lacked such access.
- To demonstrate the viability of the "Mountain Finance" model so that other banks and financial institutions will feel confident in providing services in mountain areas.
- Make SP a Nepali-owned and -run organization.
Currently, Samriddha Pahad continues to work in the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area through the "Samriddha Kanchenjunga Programme" with a range of stakeholders to develop sustainable tourism and environment conservation.

Samriddha Kangchenjunga Program - 5 Pillar's Approch
Samriddha Kangchenjunga’s holistic program has a five-pillar approach of focused development in the Kangchenjunga region:

"Conserving nature whilst empowering communities of Kangchenjunga, the world's third highest mountain."
– Samriddha Kangchenjunga
Kangchenjunga 70

2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of Kanchenjunga, in 1955. This celebration will honor a legacy that has inspired, and continues to inspire, many people. Various events are planned to commemorate this milestone, hosted by communities in both Nepal and the United Kingdom. These celebrations will mirror the success of the Everest 70 event in 2023 (www.everest70.com), showcasing the deep connections and shared history between the two regions. It promises to be a meaningful occasion filled with activities that highlight the enduring impact of this legacy.
